Baking Tips of the Day
Good morning, bakers! 😁 I was baking two batches of chocolate chip cookies and came up with a few baking tips I think would help for your next batch! Believe me, these tips will make your cookies very sweet! 😉
Tip #1: Use Room-Temp Ingredients
When making cookies, I like to make sure that my eggs and butter are room temperature. I usually take my eggs and butter out 20 minutes before I start mixing everything together.
This will make mixing your ingredients in the bowl much easier. Once everything is well mixed, you’ll notice your batter is much smoother!
Tip #2: Hand Mix the Chocolate Chips
This is a tip I wish I knew when I first opened my at-home bakery! The first few times I baked chocolate chip cookies, I used the same amount of chocolate chips in each batch, but somehow, they all had different amounts of chocolate chips.
Even if you measure carefully and use an electric mixer, the chocolate chips don’t always distribute evenly throughout the dough. To fix this, mix all your ingredients with the electric mixer first, then mix the chocolate chips by hand using a whisk or spatula to ensure they are evenly distributed.
One extra trick I swear by is to add a little more chocolate chips than the recipe calls for. This helps ensure every bite is perfectly chocolatey, consistent, and a bit sweeter!
Tip #3: Freeze Your Dough
Not only does freezing your dough help it take shape, resulting in a better cookie when you put it in the oven, but it also deepens the cookie's flavor!
Let’s say I make dough on Sunday; afterward, I would put it in the fridge for 15 minutes. Once those 15 minutes are over, I portion out each cookie, then put the cookie dough balls into the freezer. If I want to, I can bake the cookies on a Wednesday. All I would do is take the cookie dough balls out of the freezer and pop them straight into the oven, adding a few extra minutes to the baking time!
Tip #4: Undercook Your Cookies
This tip sounds odd, but trust me, it works! See, when you take your cookies out of the oven, the heat from the tray will keep cooking them. By taking them out a little early, you prevent the bottoms of your cookies from burning or becoming crispy while keeping the middle nice and gooey.
Until Next Batch!
